Missing Laughter
59
Take me to that place again
that we have been before
where leaves torn from trees
are food for your plastic dinosaurs
Let’s go into your tent and have a picnic with your stuffed animals all in attendance
and where imaginary food and drinks are served
As properly as an English tea
Take me away from this death and dying that has become
all that fills my days and mind
as your sweet PaPa drifts between pain pills and being awake
and I dare not leave his side
Oh lets paint each others faces again and laugh so hard
we scare the cats and they hide under the cushions of the chair
let’s catch fireflies in this summer’s gracious twilight
not hurt them or put them in a jar, just chase after them,
catch, marvel and release again out into the warm night
Let’s get lost in a book, “Wet Dog” is always fun
as we imitate the shaking pooch
and wag our behinds and shoulders until we fall on the floor …
Laughing
We always laugh
I have not laughed in such a long time now

The joy and wonder of a child is something we all should try to hold onto. I am lucky, I get to see it daily in my granddaughter's face.
This remembered joy is just what you need right now. These childish things pass butte new memories are just as sweet. What a lovely Hub!
Terrific hub reminding us of the pleasure of laughter, you've earned a vote-up and an awesome from me.
The children in your life are blessed indeed.

Beautiful poem, and wonderful photos of the grand baby, and the kitten. God Bless You Precious Heart.
Wat a nice poem and funny pix ....
I bet your grand daughter is every bit as beautiful as her Poohgranma. Loved the poem, I could here giggling of long ago.
I loved this. I am taking care of my sister-in-law who is in Hospice care and expected to live only a month or two. I so wish we were in a tent having a tea party. Thank you for taking me back for a moment, to the place where we have no worries.
What a lovely poem! I could feel your yearning for those carefree days. I, too, will always regard the carefree moments I had with my children and friends as my most precious memories, and I will never stop enjoying them whenever it comes my way. I have finally learned how to recognise and appreciate them. It normally last for a markedly brief time. Cats and dogs and children easily provoke laughter in us. Take care, poohgranma!
beautiful....get yor son to bring her over...if you can, you 2 go out even if it's just for a hour...or the 3 of you for some ice cream at the parlour - that'd be a blast of sunshine...a wee interruption in that surreal world of yours
I hope you are on the mend.
...well you were born to write - it's your 'creative' legacy and a gift to us who not only know you as an esteemed colleague but as a peer and a friend who is so repected here at the Hub.

Dear Pooh,
I love this piece and the pictures as well. I hope that smiles and laughter come to you soon. I loved the beginning of this piece reminding me of playing at my Grandma's house with my two sisters . . . building our make believe "houses" out of sheets, garden furniture and old oak trees. Precious memories. Take care,
Sharyn
Poohgranma, Hearfelt & Beautiful! May the JOY of the Lord continue to be your strength on this journey! He will NEVER leave nor forsake you! GOD BLESS YOU!
In HIS Love, Grace, Peace & Blessings!
God bless you dear Pooh.
I somehow missed this beauty, this gem. You brought a smile to my face, the essence and innocence of being and acting like a child. It's never to late to smile, through all adversity, a slab of grass will will emerge even through hardened concrete. My friend you have a lot to smile for and with, don't let the present darkness bring your down. Life will shine for you, give it time. Your love and closest friend needs your strength now. Turn that frown upside down and keep smiling, it's your inner beauty that always surfaces, remember that my friend. Beautiful poem and pictures, I loved it. Thanks for sharing on FB.
good work, pooh. miss child like joy... and great picture of that kitty too!
well, i'll give them that, though, I tend to equate innocence more with dogs :-)

If only adults could have the joy of a child restored. I wonder where it went.
